2014 Bowl for Kids Sake Bowling Event

Simcoe County Young Professionals Association’s involvement with “Bowl for Kids Sake” 2014 was a great success!

The Chay Today Business Bowl to support Big Brothers Big Sisters on March 17th brought in over $5,000 for the charity with SCYPA raising the most money for the third year in a row. SCYPA’s bowling captain and chair Tim L. Walker also received recognition for being the top individual fundraiser. The SCYPA team raised over $1,400 this year!

SCYPA is proud to support various community endeavours and fundraising campaigns in Simcoe County. If you are interested in becoming involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters, please contact your local agency or call Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada at 1-800-263-9133.

Networking Essentials with Chris Leader Recap

Despite the ridiculously cold weather on Tuesday, about a dozen folks showed up at Williams for the January 2014 SCYPA Educational event with Chris Leader. The group enjoyed a free lunch (sandwiches, wraps, veggies and deserts with coffee and tea!) and a fantastic talk by Chris Leader of Leader’s Edge Training.

Chris spoke for almost an hour on a variety of subjects from networking to prospecting to CRM systems to goal setting and everything in between. Everyone came away with a variety of tips and tricks applicable to most young professionals and small business owners.

Thanks to everyone that braved the cold weather to come out an take part in the first SCYPA Educational Event of 2014, and a huge thanks to Chris Leader to coming out and speaking to us! We’re looking forward to planning more educational events throughout 2014, so if you have a specific topic or theme you’d like to suggest, let us know in the comments below.

Photos From the 2014 SCYPA Cooking Class

Last night (April 15th, 2014), the Simcoe County Young Professionals Association participated in our annual cooking class at Liberty North with Chef Rich. Approximately 30 people attended the event where we learned & watched Chef Rich prepare a variety of dishes including Goat Cheese Brule, Homemade Gravlox, Steak Tartare and Sesame-Crusted Seared Ahi Tuna. Needless to say, the food was amazing, and the event was, again, one of the best SCYPA events of the year.

Browse through the images above to check out some of the dishes we sampled. The feedback on the event was so good, we’re going to try to put together a 2nd cooking class this year in the fall with a Thanksgiving/Christmas turkey dinner theme. We’ll let you know as soon as we have the details.
